About Us

The Institute of Biblical Culture is a non-profit organization that aims to provide the general public with an in-depth understanding of the Bible and its cultural world. It offers YouTube videos and Zoom classes related to the study of Biblical texts. Classes are taught by PhDs from both Jewish and Christian backgrounds, and students come from a number of religious and secular backgrounds themselves, with varying approaches and commitments to the Bible.

Director

Rabbi Dr. David Moster is the author of the Biblical Hebrew Grammar Card, the Biblical Hebrew Vocabulary Card, and Etrog: How a Chinese Fruit Became a Jewish Symbol. He is the Director of the Biblical Hebrew Certificate Program at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He received his PhD in Tanakh from Bar-Ilan University and holds degrees from Yeshiva University and NYU. In 2017, he turned down a university position because it was too distant from family and friends. This led him to explore online and long-distance learning communities, which resulted in the creation of The Institute of Biblical Culture in 2018.
